It has been suggested before by people in the know, but now the air date for Sherlock Series Four has been 100% confirmed.
Th official Sherlock Twitter account announced yesterday that episode one, titled ‘The Six Thatchers’, would arrive on New Year’s Day 2017. This follows the trend of Sherlock‘s series beginning on the date that goes all the way back to Series Two in 2012.
The announcement also came with a new edit of the trailer released at San-Diego Comic-Con.

US fans will be pleased to know that the episode will also air on the PBS network on the same date. Episode two ‘The Lying Detective’ will then presumably air a week later on Sunday 8th. The final, as yet untitled, episode would subsequently arrive on the 15th.
