Benedict Cumberbatch will battle Tom Hiddleston and Idris Elba for Best Actor Emmy

IMG_0200

It’s a battle of the British at the Emmy TV awards this year, as three English stars are up for the Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category.

These are Tom Hiddleston for his turn as Jonathan Pine in spy drama The Night Manager, Idris Elba for playing the titular detective Luther and, of course, Benedict Cumberbatch for wearing a silly hat as some detective we can’t remember the name of. Also up for the award are Bryan Cranston for All The Way and Cuba Gooding Jr. and Courtney B. Vance for The People vs. O.J. Simpson.

In other news, Sherlock has also been nominated for the Outstanding TV Movie award for one-off episode ‘The Abominable Bride.’ It will tussle with the likes of A Very Murray Christmas, Confirmation as well as Luther and All The Way again for the gong.

We would like to remain impartial and simply wish all the nominated actors and TV shows good luck… However, we are a Sherlock site so we will actually say: go Benedict and ‘The Abominable Bride’!

  1. Oh, wow~! I was really hoping Tom would be nominated for ‘The Night Manager’. That series was exceptional. Really some of the best television I’ve seen in a long time. But, to go up against Benedict? Well, now my little fangirl heart is just torn because I’d love to see either of them win.

  2. . . . my dad says it’s gonna be Idris. For better for worse, I’m a Hiddlestoner. And Benedict is just . . . well jeez. He’s Sherlock.
