13. Nicholas Rowe
From an older Holmes to the youngest ever. Nicholas Rowe played a schoolboy Sherlock in Young Sherlock Holmes, a Spielberg-produced action/adventure take on the Holmes canon. He also cameod in 2015’s Mr Holmes.
12. Vasily Livanov
The Russian TV series The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is a revered production for Holmesians, with star Vasily Livanov being cited as delivering a classical and commanding take on the Great Detective.
11. Rupert Everett
Rupert Everett played Holmes in the little-seen Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking from 2002. He’s actually terrific as a moody, contemplative Sherlock. It’s a shame he didn’t get to play the character again.
10. Christopher Plummer
The Sound of Music actor Christopher Plummer portrayed an intriguingly emotional and morally-righteous Holmes in Murder By Decree, a movie which pits Sherlock against real-life serial killer Jack The Ripper.
